Darryl has created his own niche in the world of Native American Art. His style is rich in the Navajo culture. He was taught tufa casting from his uncle Bobby Begay. His mentor, Raymond C. Yazzie, taught Darryl how to inlay stones. Darryl also has an extensive knowledge of turquoise. In 2009 Darryl and his wife received the prestigious and coveted "Best of Show" at the 88th annual Santa Fe Indian market.
